Shampoo & Conditioner for Coloured Hair
Coloured Hair is something that many of us have and want. Although, it can often be difficult to keep up with the maintenance of your coloured hair and I know all too well that the products you use can make a huge difference.
Towards the end of last year I decided to drastically change the colour of my hair. I went from blonde, to a lovely autumnal coppery colour for the colder months. Having vibrant coloured hair can be really difficult to maintain, as it fades so easily but I was determined to make this work.
Since turning copper last year, I have been using the Vibrant Sexy Hair Range. This contains a Colour Lock Shampoo and Conditioner, as well as a color guard. All specifically made for coloured hair. This range claims to keep coloured hair looking fresh for up to 10 weeks. Does it meet the claims?
Firstly – although probably not most importantly – these products smell divine. They have a really sweet scent that lingers in your hair after washing which is always a winner for me.
Secondly – and most importantly – these products don’t contain any sulphates (thats a big wahoo). This means they aren’t as stripping as other products containing sulphates and I think this is really important for coloured hair, because you want to prolong the colour for as long as possible. Ditching sulphates is going to make such a difference to the condition of your coloured hair in the long run. Trust me.
Thirdly – despite not containing any sulphates, the shampoo lathers up exceptionally well without the need to use excessive amounts. Bonus!
Last but not least – It left my hair feeling soft, clean and easy to manage without the need for any detangling products after washing.
Firstly – The conditioner in this range for coloured hair is so thick that it doesn’t easily squeeze out of the bottle. It’s great that the conditioner is so luxurious but having to take the lid off to get product out starts to become an annoyance. Perhaps this product would be better in a tub, or a squeeze bottle similar to the colour guard product.
Secondly- I wasn’t sure about the third step in this process, the colour guard. I find that when I have coloured hair, washing minimally is important. So I found that adding an extra step and an extra rinse defeated the object a little. Seeing more colour wash from my hair when using the third step was a little disheartening so I didn’t use this product as much as the others. Instead I sometimes added a little of the colour guard into my conditioner after it had been on for a couple of minutes to help seal the colour.
Overall I have really enjoyed using these products on my coloured hair and I would definitely repurchase them in the future. I definitely noticed a difference in the loss of colour between using these products in comparison to others. I found these products to be really gentle, especially since they don’t contain any sulphates and this helped a lot with keeping my colour fresh and vibrant.
Did these products keep my Coloured Hair fresh for 10 weeks?
It’s quite difficult to answer this question because I didn’t use the products solid for 10 weeks without using other toning conditioners and colours in between. However, what I will say, is that these products definitely maintained my colour better than any other shampoos and conditioners that I tried whilst having copper hair. I noticed a lot less colour removal from my hair using them and I am starting to miss the heavenly scent of the Vibrant Sexy Hair Range so I might have to repurchase them very soon. For coloured hair, I feel like these are a perfect range to try, especially considering they don’t contain any sulphates.
